Course Description:

Introduction to CAD and 3D Printing is a foundational course designed to immerse you in the exciting world of computer-aided design (CAD) and additive manufacturing. This class is perfect for beginners eager to explore the principles of digital design and bring their creations to life through 3D printing.

This year long class allows students to experience growth and master CAD programming while also sharpening their skills based on their interests or the interests of their team.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn the Basics of Onshape: Gain hands-on experience with Onshape, a powerful cloud-based CAD tool, to create and modify 3D models.
  • Understanding 3D Printing: Explore the concepts and technologies behind 3D printing, including materials, processes, and applications.
  • Design Projects: Engage in practical design projects that challenge you to apply your CAD skills and create functional prototypes.
  • Collaborative Learning: Participate in team-based activities and peer reviews to enhance your learning experience and refine your designs.
  • Final Project: Culminate your learning journey with a final project that showcases your ability to design and 3D print a unique object.
