Course Description:

NOTE: This class will begin in the spring semester

This Cooking & Culinary Arts class class will teach not only beginners but also those who’ve dabbled in the kitchen to learn some important skills. This class offers a hands-on, engaging introduction to the skills and creativity of the kitchen. Students will learn proper knife safety and techniques, including how to chop, dice, and slice with confidence, while also exploring essential cooking methods and mastering the foundations of major sauces. From preparing a variety of meats to understanding how to use spices and seasonings to enhance flavor, students will gain practical knowledge they can use every day while they discover how food can be used to bring families together. With a touch of cultural flair, they’ll experience cuisines from around the world and, yes, enjoy the food they have made in class. Beyond the kitchen, this class emphasizes serving others, as students will use what they’ve learned to bless their own families and prepare meals to share with those in need, such as welcoming a new baby or supporting someone returning home from the hospital.
