Sagina Varghese
About
Ms. Varghese has retired from the public school system as an English and Theatre teacher, and she is excited to now teach at PHC, where she can freely speak the name of Jesus and teach from a Biblical worldview.
Ms. Varghese holds active certifications in ELA (8th–12th), Speech (7th–12th), and Theatre (EC–12th), along with a BA in Theatre with a minor in English, an MFA in Theatre & Drama, and an MTS in Theological Studies. Throughout her career, she has taught American Literature, Communications, Composition, Speech, ELA, and Honors ELA for grades 6–12. She also directed and produced numerous plays and musicals, including Pygmalion, Charlie’s Aunt, Pride & Prejudice, A Raisin in the Sun, Romeo & Juliet, Home on the Mornin’ Train, and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.
While completing her Master of Theological Studies degree, Sagina served as the Creative Arts Director at a local church, collaborating with pastors, musicians, videographers, scenic designers, dancers, actors, and other artists to create Christian programming for both adult and children’s ministries. She also wrote and produced plays and videos and taught writing and theatre classes for adults and students alike.
She is passionate about continuing to reach the next generation through the arts and the love of the Lord at PHC. This year, she is honored to teach ELA for 5th and 6th grade, Drama for 5th and 6th grade, and Theatre Arts for students in grades 7–12. She looks forward to sharing her love and knowledge of English Language Arts, Theatre Arts, and Speech at a school that recognizes the Lord God as the source of all creativity.
