Course Description:

Language Arts 6 is a two-day class that will meet on Monday and Wednesday 

This 2-day a week class has everything your student will need to build a firm foundation in Language Arts. The class will include writing, grammar, literature, reading comprehension, spelling and cursive.

Fix It! Grammar: Mowgli and Shere Khan will build on concepts taught in previous levels. Students experience the conflict between the man’s cub Mowgli and Shere Khan as this classic tale comes alive in daily passages. As students hunt for and correct errors, they learn a thorough explanation of additional punctuation rules, essential/nonessential clauses, complex sentence patterns, transitional prepositional openers, and more.

In IEW’s Investigations in Writing, students explore a wide range of fascinating topics while developing strong writing skills. As they study subjects like Socrates, plate tectonics, and other engaging ideas, they learn to write clearly and confidently using the Structure and Style method.

In reading comprehension, BJU Press’s Perspectives in Literature student edition will contain grade-appropriate selections to challenge your student’s reading and comprehension skills. Reading selections are grouped around major biblical themes, and literary depictions of various life experiences and cultural values offer a diverse reading experience. This book also suggests multiple reading strategies to help your student gain more from what he or she reads.

Cursive and spelling will be included. Students will explore a variety of engaging methods, along with helpful tips and tricks, to strengthen their spelling skills and develop in cursive writing in a fun and enjoyable way.
