Course Description:
Language Arts 4th grade is a two-day class that will meet on Monday and Wednesday
This 2-day a week class has everything your student will need to build a firm foundation in Language Arts. The class will include writing, grammar, literature, reading comprehension, spelling and cursive.
In Fix It! Grammar: Town Mouse and Country Mouse, students will follow the adventures of a curious town mouse and his country cousin as they explore each other’s worlds, revealing new portions of the tale in daily passages. As students hunt for and correct errors, they learn parts of speech, basic comma and capitalization rules, complex sentence patterns, and more.
In IEW’s Structure and Style: Wonders of Science Writing Lessons, students learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, compose essays, and more. The class will include literature suggestions and access to a download of vocabulary cards to aid in their writing skills.
In reading comprehension, we will practice the art of memory, note taking and highlighting to increase comprehension as we read a source. Cursive and spelling will be included. We will use a few mediums and tips and tricks to learn to spell better and write cursive in a fun way.
Bring your highlighters! It’s going to be a bright year!
Fourth grade Language Arts is designed for students in 4th grade, or 5th grade students who are struggling in language arts.
