Course Description:

This class is designed to introduce students to American Sign Language and Deaf culture through discussions, presentations, videos, games, and readings in class. We will focus on building a bank of commonly signed vocabulary and learning to have basic conversations in ASL. We will also be learning about the history of Deaf culture in America, where ASL originated, and focus on some of the amazing Deaf pioneers who broke the barriers to improve treatment and awareness of the Deaf community.
